Cordoba Facts

- University city, suitable for those with student budget.

- Friendly and open people.

- Late nightlife culture and young spirit.

- Natural landscapes a few minutes from the city.

Córdoba is a fascinating mix of old and new. Where else will you find DJs spinning electro-tango in crowded student bars next to 17th century Jesuit ruins?
In 2006, Córdoba was designated Cultural Capital of the Americas, and the title fits the city perfectly. Four excellent municipal galleries – dedicated to emerging, contemporary, classical and fine arts respectively – are within easy walking distance of each other and the city center. The alternative film scene is alive and kicking. Young designers and artisans exhibit their stuff at a weekend crafts market that sprawls for blocks and is one of the best in the country. And if all this action is too much for you, quaint little mountain villages are a short bus ride away.

Cordoba is a culturally rich city with relevant Jesuit heritage. On top of the natural beauty of this region, the cultural diversity and developed economy, it is the warmth and hospitality of its people what makes of Cordoba such an attractive city.

Featured trips

Quebrada del condorito

Quebrada del Condorito: Is a National Park of Cordoba Province with unique species.

Jesuit estancia

The Jesuit churches and estancias: Great to visit or spend a weekend in any of these historic country houses in the hills.

The best of the city

Walking city tour: Since Córdoba has pedestrian zones in most of its downtown area the best way of getting to know it is by walking it! All the Historic Center has been renovated and beautifully lit.

Milonga night: As well as Buenos Aires, Córdoba is known for its quality “milongas”. It is a very relaxed and open atmosphere, where anyone can give it a try and feel like a sexy tango dancer.

Manzana Jesuítica: Visitors can go back to colonial times when walking along the block on which the "Iglesia de la Compañía", the Rectorado and the Colegio Monserrat are located. University students bring life to the nearby bars and create a cheerful atmosphere in the heart of the city.

Paseo del Buen Pastor: This “Paseo” used to be a women’s jail but now, after a complete makeover, it is a mecca for high end restaurants, avant-garde shopping, and a city owned modern art gallery. Being in the center of the trendy club district, it is a deliberately romantic space with benches and cafes, both indoors and out.

Barrio Güemes: Visit the crafts and antiques fair and the little galleries around the fair with art and local designers clothing. By the end of the afternoon, there are nice bars and pubs to share a good time with friends.

Going out clubbing: You can find different night clubs in every neighbourhood around the city; each one with its own style. However most of them are in 2 areas: Nueva Córdoba and the Chateau Carreras neighbourhood. A good number of students choose the first zone because it is cheaper and nearer to their apartments.

I stayed in Cordoba for two months and it’s been a unique experience. I liked Cordoba where the people are really very cool, lots of shoppings. I stayed with a very nice host and a very good cook as well! As my home was a few blocks from the school it was very close to the city center! Teachers at the school are very good as well as the rest of the staff. Since classes are small it’s possible to make new friends. My experience in Cordoba was great to learn and have fun!

I had a great time here and my Spanish has improved a lot. The people at the school are relaxed, friendly and patient. I had only two months to enjoy this trip but I will come back as soon as I can. To live in a foreign country and apply its language is the best way to learn it and I recommend the school.

Argentina Facts

- Great diversity of landscapes, culture & traditions.

- Travel options for all budgets.

- Argentines' hospitality help you learn Spanish easy and fast.

- Well known for the high level of education of its people.

Patagonia

Argentina borders Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay, and it is the eighth largest country in the world, second only to Brazil in terms of size and population in South America. The population mix of Argentina is very different from the rest of Latin America as it is mostly European. However, you can still experience "traditional life" in the northern provinces of Salta and Jujuy. These provinces resemble the Andean nations of Bolivia and Peru and differ culturally from those of the Pampas. Archaeological sites, volcanoes, small Indian villages, and nature reserves can be found in this area.

Argentina is a country of European traditions that loves modernity and diversity. You will get a guaranteed immersion in its culture helped by its chatty, resourceful and kind people. On top of that, Argentina has every natural beauty you can think of: the mighty Andes, the wide Río de la Plata and the famous Iguaçu Falls. Magnificence on each end like the southern glaciers and the northern “Calchaquíes” Valleys going through the pampas in the center!
Now is a great time to visit, so get your spirit in gear and prepare for an unforgettable adventure!

Soccer is a major part of the country’s culture. Every single Argentinean is passionate about this sport all year long, especially during World Cup. Argentinean athletes are recognized in tennis, basketball, women’s hockey, golf and rugby as well.

Spare time

Literature

This is a huge chapter on Argentineans life.Normally, families are very close, and spend Sunday’s lunch together. You can show up, unannounced, at an Argentinean’s house and the host will make you feel welcome as automatically starts heating water to prepare “mate”.

1. How is my Spanish level determined?

You will take a placement test on your first day to establish the Spanish course level you will attend to. You may change levels depending on your learning skills.

2. What happens if there is not a course available for my level?

If there isn’t a Spanish course according to your level, a course will be opened for you specially and you will have individual lessons until other students with the same level of Spanish arrive. The price of these individual lessons will keep the same as the group ones.

3. Can I take my lessons in different destinations?

You can take your Spanish lessons in different places in various countries in Latin America. It is possible to combine destinations in any of our schools in Latin America or Spain without extra charge. You will find the same teaching method in all our Spanish schools.

4. Will I get a certificate after finishing the program?

Yes, you will get a certificate that specifies the level of Spanish achieved and the amount of hours you have taken. You will get also a progress report which includes the skills developed during your course and a recommendation letter from your teacher.

5. Will I receive university credits?

You can receive university credits for attending to our schools but you should first visit your school’s language department in order to know the specific requirements. Common requests from universities are: course syllabus, talking to other teachers who know the program, classroom hours, course levels, academic policies, receiving progress reports from your teachers while abroad and giving you a test upon your return. We will help you gather all the necessary paperwork and you may schedule an interview with your academic advisor if needed.

6. How am I going to develop my Spanish skills?

Our methods combine both theory and practice, addressing all of the linguistic and functional pragmatic aspects of the spoken language, along with key socio-cultural information essential for you to gain proficiency and in order to achieve your goals. Grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking and vocabulary are always integrated in order to approximate you to an authentic communicative environment.
You will begin with practical situations. Grammar lessons will be introduced gradually during the process. Lessons' topics and contents are related to daily life’s situations.

7. How many levels are there?

COINED offers 3 different levels following the requisites and guidelines from the Common European Framework of Reference. Each level is divided into 2 sublevels varying from lesser to greater linguistic capability: Basic (A), Intermediate (B), Advanced (C).

8. How many lessons do I need to reach a different level?

It depends on the level you already have, the one you want to reach and the kind of program you are taking. If you are a beginner, it takes approximately 40 to 60 group lessons per week to get you into the next level. But if you don’t have enough time you can reduce the time at half by achieving the same level with private lessons. For further information please contact us. We will be happy to help.

9. Is the study material included in the Spanish course?

In almost every destination the study material, according to your level, is included. In case you choose a destination that doesn't include it, we will let you know.

10. What is a typical day like?

You can take lessons from 9 AM to 1 PM or from 2 PM until 6 PM according to your schedule and your program.
Afternoon classes (2 PM to 6 PM) are usually reserved for students requesting additional hours or different programs.
Many days include school activities in the afternoon or the evening.

11. When do I have to register to the program?

You should register at least four weeks before the program starts to guarantee you a spot in our schools.  For bookins done lless than four weeks before the start date, we cannot guarantee your place in a group but you can write or call us to check for availability in such cases.

12. If I want to combine destinations, do I have to register at each separate location?

No, if you are planning to combine your destination simply register at the location you will be at first, and then indicate which date you plan to switch to another school.
